Designs
The design solutions, created as part of the ‘To-Be system Analysis & Design’ work, are expected to bring School Districts, Special Education Providers and General Public onto a common digital platform where NYSED Staff can organize the requests, publish the regional needs, manage the applications and related operations with the respective user groups. The solutions are tested with multiple user scenarios while allowing the users to smoothly navigate between the portal screens. I have created the information architecture and interaction design for the solutions after thoroughly investigating the needs and carefully analyzing the enormous information captured during the requirements gathering phase.

Special Education Providers across the state of NY - Special Education Providers are the approved education providers for both Preschool and Schoolage students. These providers follow the regional needs that are posted on the Special Education portal and accordingly send applications to NYSED and upon getting approvals provide the needed services to special students after enrolling.

School Districts across the state of NY - The state of NY has a total of 950 school districts. These school districts will create student profiles, add evaluation records to those profiles, assign education provider, education programs and other related services that are found necessary to the program. School Districts keep track of all student records in line with the provider enrollment data.

General Public (which includes all the above users) - NYSED is accountable to the general public. The regional needs are publicly posted on the NYSED portal and the providers information is also publicly available both for preschool and school age
